In a year marked by drastically rising community needs and an increased demand for support services, one local company is taking action in a big way. The organization announced that it will participate in two separate food drives this season while also coordinating a Family Game Day at a local children’s center and shelter during the bustling week between Christmas and New Year’s.

The dual food drive initiative arrives at a pivotal time for community food programs, many of which are experiencing increased demand as families struggle to meet basic needs through the winter months. By supporting two different food drive partners, NoVA FoodMachine fighting for Loudoun Hunger Relief and RCC Thanksgiving Drive partnering with the Greater Reston Chamber of Commerce and Cornerstones to make a meaningful difference for families in our community. Winmar hopes to help strengthen local resources and ensure that shelves remain stocked during one of the most challenging times of the year.
But the company’s commitment goes beyond providing essential goods. Between the holidays, employees will volunteer their time to host a Family Game Day at the nearby Northern Virginia Family Services children’s center and shelter. The event will feature board games, snacks, small prizes, and time for families to play, unwind, and experience moments of joy together—something especially valuable for children and parents facing hardship or housing insecurity.
Company leadership shared that these initiatives reflect their core belief in service, community connection, and compassion.
“Giving back isn’t just a seasonal activity—it’s part of who we are,” stated Edwin Villegas, President. “Our team is dedicated to supporting families in our community, whether through essential food donations or by simply showing up to bring joy and connection to kids who need it most. We are proud to stand with our neighbors and do our part this holiday season.”
Employees across the organization have already begun collecting food items and organizing games and activities for the upcoming event. Many say the effort not only strengthens the community, but also brings the company together with a shared purpose.
To wrap up the season of giving, Winmar will conclude the year with a company-wide Potluck. The event will give employees a chance to come together, celebrate their collective impact, share homemade dishes, and close out the year with a sense of unity and gratitude.
As the holiday season approaches, the organization hopes its involvement will inspire others to participate in acts of service, large or small, to help support families during this time of year.
